Update: Because of a shortage of conference space and hotel rooms in Brighton before ERM 2015 (due to political conventions), the satellite symposium will take place in the Copthorne Hotel, Effingham, UK, on September 30th. At the end of the day a bus will transport participants to the European Retina Meeting (ERM 2015) in Brighton. For details on the venue, see below.
Please note that London (and therefore Brighton) has several airports, which are located South (Gatwick), West (Heathrow), North (Stagnated and Luton) and Central (City).
Gatwick is the most convenient choice for both the satellite and the main meeting. Heathrow or City are a "compromise solution" and Stansted/Luton will most likely require travel through central London, which can take a long time.
For more information on the European Retina Meeting (ERM 2015) as well as this satellite meeting, see www.erm2015.com (or www.retina-meeting.eu).
Participation in the symposium is free of additional costs but requires a registration with the main conference and separate registration for the satellite symposium (by email to roc-satellite(AT)retina-meeting.eu). Note that for this symposium, space is limited to a maximum of 100 participants.
Six sessions and six international keynote speakers: their 30' talks will serve as a starting point for a 30`general discussion. Every participant is welcome to suggest 1 slide of their own (PDF, landscape) for one of the sessions as discussion material. The symposium will be chaired by Richard H. Masland (Harvard & MEEI, Boston; MA; USA). Each session is co-chaired by one of the speakers and/or one of the organisers.
Sebastian Seung (Princeton University, NJ, USA): "Towards complete anatomical classification of RGCs"
EJ Chichilinsky (Stanford university, CA, USA): "Functional classification of macaque ganglion cells"
Philipp Berens (University of Tübingen, Germany): "The functional diversity among retinal ganglion cell types of the mouse retina"
